RETROACTION

Today is my birthday, and this year I realized that I've been doing both the art & the music publicly... comic books, songwriting, recording, performing, and more... for more than 20 years (whole-hog since I was in highschool)! It's pretty nuts, and it's inspired me to dive into the archives and present the world with some remixed, and in some cases reworked oldies! In the coming week I'll be meeting up with my old friend & collaborator from north of the border, the talented miss MP Labbé, to begin a new project in this vein. I'll be equipped with a couple decades worth of audio mastertapes, original artwork, photographs, and stories. We're going to dive-in, break-out the musical instruments / art supplies, & see where our interpretations take us. Anyhow, although i'm not particularly well-known, and not at all well-to-do, I am extremely blessed with amazing friends and families of fellow creators all over the place. I'm happy to be here, and I'm really happy that you are, too...

CHARLETOUR THROWBACK COMIX

Just dug-up from the vaults! Several years ago, I did a tour w/ the band Charlemagne as a hired-gun auxiliary member on guitar/keys/backing vocals/navigation/etc... I also spontaneously endeavored to document our adventures in the form of comics: one panel per day. The entire crew was Carl (aka Charlemagne), myself, and a small stuffed toy bunny named "Algene", who comes to life in the comics. I didn't get payed much on that tour, but I did have fun...

PERSONALS ALBUM... in progress!

I'm hard at work on my new album, which is an epic collection of newspaper personals advertisements, which I've turned into songs! A different singer handles lead vocal duties on each tune. There will be two dozen tunes on the final record, and it's all being captured in full-analog-glory on my trusty friend, the Tascam 388. Here are a few rough mixes, along with the original ads they're based upon. Cheers!

LOVING FESTIVAL

Just-finished! Commemorative poster for the 2013 New Orleans Loving Festival (June 6-12). Git you out there! They're doing some fantastic events on the subjects of race, gender, community, & cooperation. The poster is a pin-up on the reverse side of a folded-up schedule, completely hand-drawn & comic-fied. I also did their logo a few years back, now featured on t-shirts, totes, and more...

THIS YEAR'S COSTUMES

We worked straight through Monday night making our Mardi Gras masks & costumes! Sasha supplied the cardboard, paint, other supplies, and workspace... That's my cuz, the amazing Danae, on the right.
